Brand Stories

The thinking behind the identity

Every system starts with who it's for and what it has to stand for. Here's how that shaped three of these brands.

For Makr Hospitality's client · Las Vegas Arts District

Hotel Juxta

An artful escape without the stress.

Audience
Millennial women looking for a stay that feels creative, beautiful, and easy.
Personality
Feminine · Artful · Lush · Effortless
Key decision
An art deco tulip mark and an emerald-and-gold palette: feminine and plant-inspired to echo a hotel filled with greenery, but kept clean so it never felt fussy. Separate, complementary marks for the hotel and bar.
Delivered
A complete launch-ready system: hotel and bar identities, menus, and collateral. Sole designer.

Holding the direction

Makr's stakeholders felt the first designs were too feminine. I held the direction because it was built for the audience, and the hotel's owner loved it because it was exactly what they wanted.

Life coaching

Enlightenya

Find what's holding you back, and get your fire back.

Audience
People who want to find or fix a romantic relationship, and get into their best life.
The name
Enlight ("in light") + Enya ("fire"). The brand is about getting your fire back, which is where the flame mark comes from.
Personality
Warm · Intriguing · Hopeful · Grounded
Key decision
Kept the vintage, cigar-box character the client loved, then softened the palette so it felt like coaching. Avoided deep, bold colors and the usual life-coaching symbols and clichés.

Podcast

Too Raw for Brunch

Real stories, unedited. The truth of life, served raw.

Hosts
Two sisters who survived very different hardships and now tell their stories unedited.
Audience
Listeners who want honest conversation about hard things, not polished advice.
The name
At dinner, a waiter kept arriving at the worst moments. The sisters agreed their topics were too raw for the public, and the name stuck.
Personality
Honest · Unfiltered · Warm · Resilient
Key decision
A deliberate contrast: the properness of English tea (script lettering, a teapot) holding raw, unfiltered stories. The palette came from the sisters' broken antique teacup.
